Beware of Cyber Attacks, Phishing Emails and Scams

PROVEN Tips on How to Protect Yourself Online

PROVEN Bank Saint Lucia Ltd (PBSL) advises you to take the necessary steps to protect yourself from Phishing attacks that attempt to steal your money, or your identity, by getting you to reveal personal information – such as credit card numbers, bank information, or passwords – on websites that pretend to be legitimate. Be cautious of unsolicited emails or messages requesting your login details.

Before opening attachments or clicking on links, always verify the authenticity of such communications by contacting your dedicated client relations teams or learn more in our PBSL Privacy Policy.

PBSL remains resolute in our bid to protect you from online scams being perpetrated by fraudsters and wants you to take the following steps to protect yourself from falling prey to cyber-attacks.

  1. Be wary of unfamiliar senders. You know your Client Relations Officer (CRO) by name so any email coming from an unknown sender may be a phisher – a scammer who uses online tactics such as emails and texts to gain access to confidential personal or financial information that they later plan to use illicitly. Be sure to contact your CRO to confirm the sender’s identity before replying to email requests.
  2. Verify the authenticity of emails and websites before providing requested information. PBSL’s secure website will always bear the URL: https://stlucia.provenbank.com/ However, if you’re still doubtful about the legitimacy of an email ending in @weareproven.com, you should contact your CRO directly to verify, before opening attachments or clicking on links, even if they appear to be
  3. Be cautious of urgent or threatening language. By now, you are familiar with our processes for managing your account. PBSL will never send you an email pressuring you to provide personal or financial information which, if not presented immediately, will result in your account being blocked or closed.
  4. Create and maintain strong passwords. Make it more difficult for phishers to access your personal and financial information by creating strong passwords that do not include obvious personal information. Never share your login credentials, including passwords and PINs with anyone, even if they claim to be from PBSL. Our team will never ask for such information.
  5. Ensure your devices are up to date with the latest antivirus software and security features. This will make you less vulnerable to scammers and cyberattacks.
  6. Regularly Monitor Your Accounts. Review your account statements regularly to identify any suspicious transactions. If you notice any unauthorized activity, please report it to us immediately.
  7. Report all suspicious activities. If you are in receipt of an email or text message purporting to be from PBSL and unsure of its legitimacy, do not hesitate to contact us at 1 758 731 7100 to speak with one of our Client Relations team members directly. See also our PBSL Privacy Policy.
